Born and raised in New Albany, Rachel found early interest in the restaurant world thanks to her father's career in fine dining. At 15, she began as a hostess for the Buckhead Corporation and worked her way up the ladder quickly, becoming the company's youngest service manager at 19. It was then that she realized her real passion was in the kitchen and not front of the house. Rachel worked weekly shifts in the kitchen learning different techniques and aiding in new recipes. After 4 years, the intensity of the restaurant industry began to take its toll, and she decided to pursue a degree in biochem to enter the medical field. Upon graduation, Rachel took a break and jumped on board to help her brother Ian Hall open and operate the original New Albany Exchange off Grant Line Rd. She then realized the kitchen was the only place she wanted be. She was sous chef there until the opening of her cafe and catering business, The Orange Clover. 2 years ago she expanded her kitchen and opened up a private dining area, the Copper Room. The Orange Clover is excited to celebrate its 6th anniversary in October.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her 3 children, checking out live music, working on new recipes, grilling for the neighborhood, playing volleyball, and dining out. Rachel is excited to collaborate with Chef Alex Dulaney, who is her favorite chef in the city. They met a couple years ago when Alex was executive chef at La Chasse, and instantly became great friends.
