Collider artist-in-residence Alyson Thiel will be hosting 3 paper art workshops throughout January!
January 6th @ 1pm — 3D Paper Sculpture, ages 3+
January 13th @ 1pm — Paper Plants, ages 12+
January 20th — Wearable Paper Art, ages 6+
With over 15 years of experience of educating and working alongside children and teenagers, Thiel's strong passion for art education shows! From her artist statement: «I am interested in the story that paper tells. We write on paper, read books and magazines made of paper, we rip, we cover, we clean, and we dispose of paper. For me, making flowers out of paper provides a rich opportunity to create an emotional relationship out of something so everyday and mundane. When I create paper flowers, I allow myself to freeze time in a flower’s moment of pure beauty and joy and create a new story.»
Alyson will also hold studio hours. Stop by and help collaborate on her book-page paper flower installation.

The new South Central Regional Library features an artist-in-residence program, COLLIDER, that serves to connect the public with art and the people who create it. Special studio space within the Library allows the artists to create on-site and encourages patrons to drop in, interact, and learn about different artistic processes. COLLIDER also features special workshops for the public.
Generous funding from Councilwoman Madonna Flood makes the COLLIDER Artist-In-Residence program possible.
