Introduction to wine made from the “big six” grapes. Discussion will include the characteristics and a
tasting of the six most widely vinified grapes; Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot,
and Cabernet Sauvignon. The talk will also touch on how to pair wine and food.
Randy Moulin, Certified Specialist of Wine, is a relative newcomer to the hospitality industry having started his food and beverage career in 2011 when he graduated from culinary school at Sullivan University. Since that time, Randy has worked as the Culinary Tutor at Sullivan, cooked for local chefs Matt Weirich of NABC New Albanian Brew House and The Exchange and with Robert Temple and Patrick Carter from Brooklyn and the Butcher. Currently Mr. Moulin is employed as a wine educator at Total Wine and More. Randy also teaches private wine tasting classes and food pairing classes.
Mr. Moulin maintains the title of Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators and the introductory Level 1 certification from The Court of Master Sommeliers. He also has an Associate degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. In addition to his culinary experience, Randy has been a critical care trauma nurse for the past 32 years.
