* If you’re someone who believes peace and justice require a commitment to the truth …
* If you’re someone who believes that Islamophobia, racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia are always wrong, and that their presence eats away at our common humanity …
* If you think income inequality is a moral issue that serves the interests of the powerful while keeping the powerless where they are …
* If you think whining about political correctness is just code for people being upset that they can’t treat people they don’t respect like crap …
* If you’re convinced healthcare is a right and paying taxes are a privilege …
* If you believe we have a responsibility to care for a planet we’ve exploited for too long in the name of profit …
If you’re tired of religious groups propping up dehumanizing political agendas …
If you’ve ever wanted to hang out, read books, discuss advocacy and organizing tactics, and drink beer with people who’re are angry enough to resist a politics that abuses the vulnerable and multiplies the dispossessed,,,

Have I got a deal for you! A Resistance Reading Group is going to be gathering on the fourth Wednesday of every month in The Commons at Douglass Blvd. Christian Church. We’re going to alternate between non-fiction and fiction, focusing on works that help us understand the current cultural and political moment we live in. (After the first meeting, we’ll choose the next month’s book by consensus.)

Our first meeting will be Wednesday, August 23rd, from 6:30–8:00, and we’ll be reading Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, by Bryan Stevenson.
