Named after Louisville's first settlement, the Corn Island Storytelling Festival was a nationally known autumn fixture that drew thousands of fans for three decades before ending its run in 2007. Now back and better than ever! This year's Corn Island Storytelling Festival, to be held on Saturday, October 21, at Blackacre, will feature a variety of wonderful Storytellers!

Bob Thompson. Col. Bob, is the resident 'Front Porch Philosopher" on the Kentucky Homefront Radio show (Saturday mornings on WFPK 91.9). Col. Bob normally works behind the scenes as producer of the annual Corn Island storytelling Festival, but this year he will be a featured storyteller telling stories from his soon to be published book, Hitchhiker, stories from the Kentucky Homefront.

Roberta Brown, storyteller and noted author comments, “These stories can certainly send shivers surging through the body, but they can also touch the heart and open the mind to the presence of the supernatural”. The festival also welcomes “Queen of the Cold-Blooded Tales” as Roberta shares several of her true, personal encounters with the supernatural from some of her 11-books.

Mary Hamilton. For 30+ years Mary has told stories at storytelling festivals, performing arts festivals, conferences, universities, theatres, libraries, museums, schools, and private gatherings. Mary's storytelling is also listed in the Kentucky Performing Arts Directory, a juried directory of Kentucky's finest performers.
Mary’s first book, Kentucky Folktales: Revealing Stories, Truths, and Outright Lies, is a collection of twenty-six tales with each story followed by an essay that talks about the story and about some aspect of the art of storytelling, was published by University Press of Kentucky in 2012.
